Our History
The President Private Hospital site sits on land originally part of the Holt-Sutherland Estate, granted in the 1860s. Hotham House at 65 Hotham Road was built around 1912, during a time when the area was semi-rural and used for poultry farming. Over time, surrounding farmland was subdivided for housing, particularly after World War II. President Private Hospital was established in the early 1970s and has since become an important healthcare provider for the Sutherland Shire community.
Hotham House is listed as a local heritage item under the Sutherland Shire Local Environmental Plan 2015. The redevelopment has been thoughtfully planned to ensure the history of the site is respected and appropriately acknowledged. This approach recognises the site’s past while allowing the delivery of modern healthcare facilities for the community.
