Community Benefits
President Private Hospital was built in 1973 and no longer meets modern healthcare standards or the growing needs of the Sutherland Shire.
There is currently no private overnight mental health facility in the Shire. Residents who require this care must travel outside the area or face delays in treatment. The redevelopment will provide essential local access to voluntary overnight mental health services, allowing patients to remain close to their families and support networks.
Demand for rehabilitation services has also increased significantly. The hospital is operating at full capacity, and additional beds are needed to support both private patients and the broader public health system.
The existing building has evolved through ad hoc additions over many decades, resulting in inefficient layouts, unclear wayfinding and limited usable open space. The redevelopment will deliver a modern, purpose-designed facility with improved access, safer circulation and therapeutic outdoor spaces.
This project ensures the Sutherland Shire has access to high-quality, contemporary healthcare services now and into the future.
